Dasma Gazette!

Just needless self-promotion thanks to Arthur! haha

Did some pro-bono legal aid work in the Barangay (local government unit) for our village. Basically had to make templates for disenfranchised voters and whatever help we can with regard to voting. Overall it was mostly peaceful but I just like this article cause you can see my ugly mug.

Just the local village newsletter. Its not the first time, but its the first time I'm not with my family haha.

Pre-StarCraft 2 Geek Alert! 07/23/2010

07/23/2010, originally uploaded by Vic Rosales.

I'm a tech geek. If it gets tech, I get excited. My friend posted his Starcraft 2 experience on his facebook status and i got goose bumps.

I got goose bumps a few days ago when I bought this printer.

Laser quality printing with speed plus a scanner. Havent had my own scanner for a long time.

Used it for a lot of work, but its handy to have a copier in my room.

Geek fest over... for now.

Kinetic Wall Sculptures

Kinetic art is awesome. I want the one with the expanding frames. I find it mesmerizing and for some strange reason, it just takes me away and makes me forget about everything.

This probably costs thousand of dollars. If I had the spare change, I'd probably get one and stare at it for hours.

It must be the fascination men inherently have for machines. Or most men that is. Probably the same kick I get watching my automatic watch move it's Swiss movement through the glass in the back.

It looks cool, but honestly, I wouldn't risk it. Maybe useful when camping though. :D

Breguet Classique Complications Tourbillon Messidor Mens Rose Gold Watch

This is a freaking amazing watch. It's a technological marvel. At almost 130 thousand US Dollars, its pretty expensive.

Amazon gives it at almost 23 thousand off. Wow, makes it more affordable. Yeah right!

But what was amusing were the many reviews on Amazon about the watch. Obviously most of them were just mocking the watch in general, but I thought it would be fun to share some of the more funny reviews.

Review 1:

The finest watch made by Breguet thus far. I make it a point to buy one of these a year but with the rose-gold color band, the lightweight 40mm thickness, and the pink color dial, I had to buy two.

When first released, I was initially concerned that I would not have the opportunity to purchase this timepiece due to my daughter requiring a kidney transplant. However, it took a bit longer than I thought it would trying to work her surgery into the budget of this purchase and she passed away 6 weeks before release (talk about "timing"!!!). Thus, I was able to make this finest of purchases, after all. The second watch is in a case commemorating my daughter's memory (I believe my wife had named her Kelly. Or Kristy.)

Anyway, the finest of all watches. It isn't for every man, though. Just the ones that truly matter.

Review 2:

Well I feel like a sucker. I went ahead and bought this watch figuring it should be great for 123 grand right? It doesn't actually tell time though. I looked at the face and had a hard time seeing the hands. If you can find them, they don't actually move clockwise, they kind of move at random. The watch hurts to wear, and smells bad too, At 3:00 AM it makes a screeching sound that penetrates your mind and makes you want to scratch your eyes out. I had to borrow the money to buy this watch from a guy named guido at 64% interest. so far he has broken three of my fingers and took my car. I tried to throw the infernal thing away and it keeps just showing up. haunting my dreams,at least until I get another three AM wake up screech. I really hate this watch.

The Gadget Jacket

Found this on Engadget.

The gadget jacket is one cool jacket. Aside from looking pretty fashionable, this is the handbag for the gadget geek among us. I'm hoping they can make this for real and put a price to it. Hopefully they won't make it too expensive.

If they can make it exactly like this and usable (I can sit with it), I'd like to get one for christmas. Imagine having your shoes and shirt with you whereever you go.

This jacket better be rain proof for all the electronic tech that may be put in it. Only thing left for it is to have a solar panel to charge while the gadgets are inside.

Moleskine Notebooks

Moleskine, originally uploaded by Vic Rosales.

I just got my new Moleskine notebook. Yes, I'm addicted to them. They are my favourite when it comes to jotting down random thoughts and ideas.

Got a big blank one (I find writing on blank pages less annoying than writing on ruled ones for a reason I don't know, maybe its because I have a more free hand in writing anywhere I want).

Next to my new notebook is my old planner which is still good till December 2010. It is an 18 month planner that has survived 2 semesters of law with me. I keep the front covers on despite the tattered nature they are in so I can immediately see which is the front. Otherwise the whole notebook would just be black.

Besides, it gives it that worn out look and feel, making it more attractive. Maybe that's the Moleskine magic.

A little caveat to those planning on buying the same planner; not all planners with the same colour band and marking are the same. Upon closer inspection I noticed that some Moleskines of the same size say they are plain blank in front, but are actually ruled when opened.

Also do take note that the soft cover version of this same notebook, which costs the same, actually comes with less sheets of paper. The one photoed here has 240 plain pages, the ones sold with soft covers come with only 190 pages for the same price.

Both are great, but of course, I'd prefer more pages.

Krispy Kreme Smooth Brewed Coffee is my new favourite

I am addicted to Krispy Kreme's Smooth brewed coffee. Two creams and two sugars and it kicks just right, with no bad after taste and that strong rich aroma coffee lovers enjoy.

All this for only 55 pesos starting from small and up to 75 for large (I've only gone up to medium so far for 65).

I highly recommend having some.

My new coffee/doughnut store study buddy, Miggie! Yay. She helped me study.

I love my two cups of coffee. Yay! If only I could get rid of 50 pounds (reading weight which I shall lose! Yes, I said this in a Donut store).

The Krispy Kreme lady gave me free flavoured syrup for my coffee after my second cup, which made it taste even more starbucks/seattle's ish without the price. I dont know why, but I feel I will be going back there. If only Rockwell had a branch so I could get my fix nearby right before class. Caffeine and law go hand in hand.

The next shot is just some random street pic but I love construction stuff.
