Hey, I didn't make this, but in Europe, anything goes.

h1n1 and You
Does anyone else feel this h1n1 virus has been blown out of proportion? Yeah, lucky to those who get an extended vacation, but the panic seems a bit OA.
Why should people panic over a mild strain that people always get during the flu season? Take some vitamin C! There will always be a new virus out there evolving. Darwin's theory will take care of everything. If you're not selected, well guess what, it would've been sooner if not later.
I'd hate to see how the people panicking now would react if a real terminal virus did spread. Media is to blame. I guess it was a slow news day when this outbreak came out.
7.4 billion people in the world and just a few thousand get the virus and the media makes everyone panic?
80 million Filipinos and less than a few thousand get it? According to the Department of Health, more people got the regular flu than the h1n1 MILD strain that we have. I know people are afraid of the costs of getting sick, but don't totally suspend your life because of it, because if its out there, then only evolution can save (or science).

Makansutra @ Ocean Park Manila
I was invited to a food taste testing at Makansutra, Ocean Park.
The place is a food court/hawker area which is a franchise of the same name from Singapore. They served 14 different meals in huge servings and after the 4th I could barely bite from the next ones.
I took a few pictures (and then was later told politely told not to because it was a soft opening) so I'll keep things simple and only post a picture of the food court and two drinks, the Michael Jackson and the Budden (sp?).
The Michael Jackson is a soya milk drink with dark gulaman, part black and part white. The pink drink had gulaman (called chin chow) strips and was a bit sweet.
The 1st meal was the beef in broth. I liked that the best especially since it had a super chillly sauce that made my nostrils flare.
Their haianese rice tasted just like the one I had in Singapore two weeks ago. Not bad, the owner was a flamboyant man with strong character who can work a crowd.
I recommend the place for those who want to try something from Singapore without having to go there. The food is a pot-pourri of different styles from around asia and will give foodies something new to try right after watching the fishies at Ocean Park.

Mourning for Michael Jackson (RIP)!
Take away his rape case, his pedophilia, his weird parenting, Neverland ranch, his weird bleached face, his nose job, his intense concerts, the moonwalk, and his many cameos (the most memorable of which for me was the one he had with his nephews 3T for the song "Why") and all you'll be left with is Michael and his music.
Micheal is one of the music icons of this century. The beats he made for Thriller made it the number one selling album in the world till the Eagles made their best of eagles set.
His off the wall album had 7 out of 9 tracks reach number 1 in the US. The man is the total genius he is. He deserves all the acclaim for his music that has touched people around the world in different aspects of society.
Lets not what his song "we are the world" did for famine in the African states.
What "Black and White" did for modern anti-racism
What "The Girl is mine" did for dating someone from another race... back in the 70s!
Icon was a hit, and while listening to him sing with his nephews I could not help but feel, we did lose one of the best performers and musician the world has ever seen.
Maybe you can talk to God about the cases you had here, but still, Rest In Peace,

Brothers Burger Promo Sucks Cows
Ok, I'll get back to my previous topic after this.
I must rant about Brothers Burger's recent promo:
CAVEAT: To my friends who may be related to the owners or are franchise holders, nothing personal, it was just bad business. (As Jack Sparrow would say)
What horrible implementation they had! One of the worst I've ever seen for a franchise.
But I'm getting ahead of myself.
Miggie and I were having lunch at 12nn excited that we'd be eating good hamburgers at a lower price. We trekked all the way to the Fort from our abodes in Makati, she at the Citibank Tower and I at the Rockwell Law Scool, hoping that we would be satisfied by the burgers they serve,
Flash forward and a lady tells us that we have been cut off the line because they cannot serve anymore people so they have to shut down till 3pm.
3pm? I dont have time to wait there till 3pm jeeezzzzz
Good thing is im a relatively patient consumer so Miggie and I got out hamburger fix from TGIF which was four times the regular price of the brothers burger but better than being at that hell hole. oh well. lesson learnedl
Brothers Burger NEVER LEARNS.

Things My Father Taught Me
(edited for extremely sloppy grammar because it was done while groggy)
Been reading a lot of authors writing about how their Dad has affected them and taught them the right, or at least, the fun way to live life. So here are the things my Father has taught me which has stuck.
These were his last tips of knowledge before he was killed, so all the more I keep these in my heart (though I'm good at hiding it)
1. If I can eat 3 times a day, what ever excess is left (not just food but blessings in general), I must learn to share.
Damnit cause its so hard to share. But share we must.
2. Before one may have the right to be a true cynic, one must have at least tried their best to affect change in society or in the world
There will be more thoughts later but for now I thought I would show my mom and i at the beach last month in Boracay since shes the only parent i have left. love you mom!

Moleskine Notebooks
I've always found them overpriced and not worth it till today. I've been lugging around this huge HSBC planner to school (weird considering I got 2 free Starbucks planners which are much smaller), and realized it was taking up too much real estate in my already crowded bag.
So here is this already open, only piece left Moleskine black weekly planner at Fullybooked. How much? lets not discuss cause I'm happy with the purchase.
The week starts in July 2009 and ends on December 2010 so it should last me. The sturdy cover does look like it will. Its size is the biggest convenience.
In the picture is my original planner, next to my current Digital Photographer Philippines subscription to compare sizes.

The Sims 3 Death
I've been playing The Sims 3 ever since I got the Collectors Edition (It seemed like a good deal at the time because it came with a Sims 3 T-shirt, Mug, 2 gig USB drive, 10 dollars worth of coupons for buying stuff at the Sims 3 store and 2 free cars for the game.
The USB drive alone made the purchase worth it. It was encased in a green diamond like the ones that hover over the heads of the Sims when selected.
There are a lot of cool animations for actions in the game. The one that got my attention today was death.
My Sim befriended this old lady that was soon to die. While visiting her at her mansion, Death shows up to take her. Her husband and kid witnessed it and were very sad for the longest time.
Here are some cool screen caps

Nokia 8 Series
The Nokia 8 series have always been simple phones.
They rarely had new tech in them. What made them stand out were the materials they were made of.
The rightmost phone was my first Nokia 8 series. I remember when the phone first came out in High School. The slide mechanism was so cool. It sported a colourless screen with the screen cracked because my friend Gerald sat on it.
The leftmost one came out in college. The Nokia 8800 served me well and did what the older one couldn't; keep more than 50 SMS messages in the inbox and save more than 200 contacts in the phone memory.
Well worn and the innards were replaced more than twice for free care of the premium nokia warranty that came with the phone.
The newer one is the Carbon Arte. Same simplicity with tried and tested tech instead of new and unstable firmware. It saves even more SMS and has an even heftier weight than the previous stainless steel version. Carbon Fiber gives the phone that sporty feel.
I'm hoping this phone lasts me just as long, if not longer, than my last one. This will be a great personal phone to compliment my E71 business phone.
Chocolate Research Facility Singapore
The Chocolate Research Facility is a chocolate store in Singapore. I read about it in Time Magazine (The issue with Obama's face on the cover). The feature was about must-eats per country. Next to The Philippine's lechon from Cebu was Singapore's Chocolate Research Facility.
The place took me 3 days to find, particularly because some websites say it's at Raffles Place when its actually at Raffles Boulevard inside a mall.
I literally camped outside the store till it opened and I entered when the gate was half raised and the lady was still opening her Macbook to start the day. I asked if I could buy right away because I was leaving the country in a few hours and Faith, the girl behind the counter, gladly obliged.
I requested for the best sellers especially the Earl Grey Tea Chocolate (which was out of stock). I had to make do with the next best sellers and some unique tasting ones including Sechaun Pepper which left my stomach churning.
I also got Cheese chocolate, Rose Tea, Almond and Hazlenut Giandujx.
The cheese was great. Everything tastes good with cheese.
Picture above is of the Sechaun Pepper with real peppers inside.
